Founded by AMEB International Examiner Dr. Tanya Nguyen, Western Sydney Music School (WSMS) is a piano school for all ages and levels in Bass Hill. Since 2008, WSMS has brought over 16 years of teaching experience to the local community. We offer a diverse range of piano lessons, from beginner classes to advanced training, tailored to meet the unique goals and preferences of every student.

Meet our

PRINCIPAL

Dr. Tanya Nguyen is a highly accomplished pianist, Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) International Examiner and the Ambassador of Australia’s most renowned musical examination body to Vietnam. Her musical journey began in Vietnam and progressed through the world’s most prestigious conservatories.

Our Dr Tanya Nguyen has played a pivotal role in expanding the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) internationally, achieving remarkable success and significant milestones.

With a warm vision to inspire the next generation, Dr. Tanya founded WSPS to nurture a genuine passion for the arts.

Dr. Tanya’s journey began with extraordinary national recognition in her youth. She was a First Prize national scholar and later trained at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory at the age of 14. Dr. Tanya holds a Master’s with Distinction and a PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her academic career is marked by prestigious government scholarships and top-tier rankings in music education.

Vision

For Dr. Tanya, teaching is about nurturing the passion within every student. She focuses on building a true connection with music, bringing joy to each lesson. By understanding every student’s individual path, Dr. Tanya has always provided dedicated mentorship and encouragement they need to thrive.

Ambassador & Examinership

Dr. Tanya Nguyen holds the distinguished role of Ambassador for the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) in Vietnam, and is an AMEB International Examiner, making her the only Vietnamese-Australian to achieve this in her field. She has actively contributed to piano workshops across Australia and Vietnam, including collaborations with leading Vietnamese universities.

Experience

With over 21 years of teaching experience in Australia, Dr. Tanya has guided thousands of students from beginners to advanced levels. Her roles have included: Lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) & the Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Currently, she is the founder and Director of the Western Sydney Piano School in Bass Hill. Tanya has graced stages across the world, including performances in Sydney (2008), Tokyo (1995), and Moscow (1990).
